Educator Roles and Responsibilities
• To be a role model to students and the community of appropriate behavior,
collaboration and lifelong learning
• To continue to advance and upgrade their own professional growth and sharpen
pedagogical skills
• To encourage students to explore opportunities for learning and involvement beyond
the classroom experience
• To assume a shared responsibility for the steady development of the whole child’s
educational journey
District Administrator Roles and Responsibilities
• To serve as a role model to students, staff, and the community
• To serve as the voice and educational representative of their community
• To apply the knowledge base of both evidence-based practice and effective
leadership
• To trust teachers’ professional judgment and commitment to improvement
• To encourage teachers to experiment with new ideas and techniques
• To protect what is important as it relates to instructional and planning time
• To ensure that good teaching is honored in the school and in the community
• To foster an environment of honest, open communication
• To include teachers and other members of the school community in a meaningful
way in the decision-making process
• To hold teachers and other school personnel who work with children accountable for
high performance through regular evaluations
• To provide opportunities and encouragement for teachers to engage in dialogue
about their craft

• To serve as lead communicators of educational vision for the districts
• To provide competent and innovative business administration
• To provide cohesive professional development and coordination of curriculum
design
• To make the best use of human and financial resources to achieve established goals
• To develop a common-ground educational framework that maximizes shared
resources, including short and long term objectives
• To work cooperatively with the SAU Board to create and implement a K-12
educational plan
• To employ systems-thinking and strategic planning focused on outcomes and results
that benefit the entire SAU as well as each school district
• To create a positive and exemplary culture

• To serve as role models of appropriate behavior
• To act in the best interest of the students in the SAU while respecting the cultural
integrity and autonomy of each town’s school district
• To critically review, analyze and approve a budget that results in high quality and
cost effective administrative services for all member communities
• To develop policies and monitor their implementation
• To charge the Superintendent to establish a common-ground educational framework
that maximizes shared resources, including short and long term goals
• To work cooperatively with the Superintendent to create and implement an
educational plan for the SAU, Grades K-12
• To employ systems-thinking and strategic planning focused on outcomes and results
that benefit the entire SAU as well as each school district
• To create a positive and exemplary culture
